Louis Nel Associate Wine Maker agreement

“Louis Nel , Hidden Valley and Lands End  winemaker, is well recognised as one of South Africa’s preeminent wine craftsmen.  He is passionate about his profession and has always longed to launch his personal wine brand. In order to accommodate both his dream and Hidden valley’s desire to retain his quality skills they agreed to work in association with each other. It differs from a consultancy in that he has an ongoing responsibility and accountability for all  aspects of the winemaking process for both Hidden Valley and Lands End brands.  It is intended as a seamless transition to be initiated from the beginning of May 2010.

The role appears to be a first in the South African wine industry. Louis retains his role as resident winemaker at Hidden valley whilst being given the opportunity to simultaneously make and actively market his  own brand “The Louis”. It is a win-win situation for us both says Louis. Clearly the common denominator is Louis’ winemaking skills. The other plus is that he gets to use the modern winery at Hidden valley.

Dave Hidden has a mantra that has it that “the more you share the more you gain”........ “Working together is something we should all be striving  towards if we want to successful in this industry”  he says.
